PREV-HED

About the project

The PREVHED project is a European project that aims to fight against gender-based and sexual violence in universities by working specifically on the prevention of sexual harassment. Sexual harassment is a widespread scourge in European universities, which can affect the mental and physical health of victims and hinder their academic and professional success. In fact, according to a study conducted by the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights in 2014, 20% of European female students have experienced sexual harassment during their university studies, while 5% of students have experienced sexual harassment from their teachers. These figures are alarming and show that sexual harassment is a major problem that requires urgent action.

The PREVHED project proposes concrete actions to combat sexual harassment in universities, such as implementing prevention policies, training faculty and administrative staff, educating students on respectful behavior and prevention of gender and sexual violence, and establishing reporting and support mechanisms for victims. By working on sexual harassment prevention, the PREVHED project contributes to the promotion of gender equality, the protection of students` and faculty`s human rights, and the creation of safe, inclusive, and respectful university environments for all. It is a key project to combat gender-based and sexual violence in Europe and to ensure that universities are spaces of knowledge and personal development for all.

The PREVHED project is based on the experience of European universities that have already put in place policies to prevent sexual harassment and that now wish to strengthen the skills of all university professionals to deal with this scourge. Indeed, some European universities have already implemented sexual harassment prevention policies and have worked on innovative practices to promote a respectful and inclusive university environment for all. The PREVHED project builds on these experiences to propose effective prevention strategies adapted to the specificities of European universities.

The PREVHED project also aims to promote innovative and effective harassment prevention practices in each university. By working with university professionals and exchanging good practices between universities, the PREVHED project aims to create a positive dynamic for the prevention of sexual harassment throughout the European university system.

Innovation

The PREVHED project is fully in line with the principles of the Erasmus+ program for higher education cooperation. The project aims to promote a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students and faculty members, which is one of the main goals of the Erasmus+ program. The project also focuses on the prevention of gender-based and sexual violence, which is an important issue in the European higher education sector and is in line with the program`s focus on promoting gender equality.

The PREVHED project is innovative because it proposes a comprehensive approach to combat sexual harassment in European universities, working on prevention, training, education and support for victims. The project then draws on the experience of European universities that have already put in place sexual harassment prevention policies and worked on innovative practices to promote a respectful and inclusive university environment for all. By using these experiences to propose effective and appropriate prevention strategies, the PREVHED project is able to propose innovative solutions. Secondly, it aims to promote innovative sexual harassment prevention practices at each university, working with university professionals and exchanging good practices between universities. Finally, the PREVHED project is a continuation of the PREVEX project, and this integrated, results-oriented approach is innovative because it maximizes the impact of the project and ensures that the results achieved are sustainable.
